  • Introduction
This 5-part-series depicts the emotional connection between Singaporeans and Malaysians. Though geographical apart and politically different, there are strong ties between people from both countries. Some make frequent trips to the other side for business or for work, while some move over for marriage or pursue their goals. The series tells some of these heartwarming stories, and introduces the unique food and culture in each featured part of Malaysia. Epsiode 1: Batu Pahat This episode tells the stories of an old fisherman whose son works in Singapore and yet returns home weekly, an old Singaporean tea factory owner’s bonding with his employees, and a Singaporean woman who sets up her café business after staying there for 30 years. Episode 2: Muar This episode tells the story of a veteran antennae technician in Muar; a young woman who was inspired by Singapore TV programmes and then moves to Singapore. It also features Bukit Bakri, a village where many have the same surname “Toh”. Episode 3: Kuching This episode tells the story of a Singaporean folk who moves to Kuching and sets up a social entrepreneurship group to teach cycling; and features a Singaporean family which pays annual visit to their ancestors for 40 years. Episode 5: Melaka This episode tells how a Singaporean historian turns a worn-out ancestral house of a Singapore philanthropist into a Peranakan style hotel, and also how a Singaporean businessman faced with financial woes makes a successful comeback in Melaka.
