  • Introduction
This drama is based on a true story about a young man who leaves his hometown for the big metropolis of Tokyo in order to become a chef. The young man arrives in Tokyo in high spirits, but a number of trials and tribulations await him. In the early 1900’s Japan was faced with the Great Kanto Earthquake and the Pacific War and as a result grew, mirroring the development of the young man. And before he knows it he reaches the pinnacle of his trade – becoming the Emperor’s cook. A dramatic storyline that moves beyond the kitchen to the political world and the Imperial Household, and the realistic depiction of the townscapes, clothing, and lifestyle of the time all make this drama worth seeing.
