Program Name:Naku, Boss Ko! (Oh, My Boss!)

  • Introduction
Naku, Boss Ko! is an eight-part political-romcom series that mixes the sarcastic wit of a political satire and the feel-good vibes of a romantic comedy to expose the absurdity and hypocrisy of some of the campaign strategies employed by some, if not most politicians today. Aired two weeks before the Philippine national elections, the mini-series sought to remind viewers that politics is no laughing matter and that voters must try to see through the candidates’ facade to be able to choose wisely. The mini-series follows the story of Jon G, the reluctant mayoral candidate of the town of Malaya. He may be mischievous and a brat, but he has good intentions for his town. Unfortunately, his campaign is run by his corrupt father, the power-hungry OMG, who is a certified “trapo” (traditional politician; also means “rag” in Filipino) that has had his eye on the mayoralty seat for decades, but could never quite get it. While Jon G is groomed by Miss F, the shrewd and extremely politically savvy campaign manager and spin doctor, he falls in love with Che, a political activist who has deep-seated hatred for ‘trapos’ and is supporting a different mayoral candidate. In the midst of the crazy campaign season, Jon G tries to win Che’s heart.
