Channel NewsAsia’s historical reality documentary, Wartime Singapore, returns to uncover the struggles faced by featured profiles as they travel back in time to experience life during World War II. They dress, eat and live in an authentically-simulated 1940s Singapore. The series takes viewers through the various challenges of living through the hardships of that time and how each group copes. Layered with nostalgia and real-life stories, the documentary takes an emotional and educational journey into our collective past. At heart, the 4-part series is an illuminating and moving exploration of Singapore’s national survival spirit and courage. In the third episode, Wartime Singapore – Endau, the stars of locally produced movie, Ah Boys to Men - Maxi Lim, Wang Weiliang, Charlie Goh and Joshua Tan - are taken back to the year 1943. For the first two days, they take on tough jobs in urban wartime Singapore. For the final part of the week, the boys are stripped of all modern technology and live the rural life - build their hut and latrine, and farm the land.
